Last Brewer Standing – Round Three “Something Wild”

Westchester Homebrewers Organization August Meeting Recap: Round Three of Last Brewer Standing — “Something Wild”

The WHO gathered this August for an exciting and flavorful evening as we hosted Round Three of our 3rd Annual Last Brewer Standing challenge. This time, our theme was “something wild,” celebrating the wild side of brewing with wild ales, sours, gueuzes, lambics, and other fermentations that showcase the complexity and character of spontaneous fermentation.

Brewers and teams brought their A-game, crafting a variety of innovative and mouthwatering wild beers. Here are the results:

– Vlad with his Kettle Soured Blonde scored a solid 7.9.
– Steven & Cesar wowed with their Plum/Cherry Kettle Sour topping the charts at 12.1.
– Kathy & Jen’s Blackberry Philly Sour earned a respectable 9.4.
– Ken’s Raspberry Sour Mash came in at 8.5.
– Scott’s Flanders Red impressed with a 10.9.
– Tim’s Cherry Sour rounded out the entries with a 9.8.

Congratulations to all participants for their creativity and craftsmanship! It was a fantastic evening of wild, tart, and delicious brews that truly showcased the diverse talents within our club.

Looking ahead, don’t forget that Round Four will take place at our October meeting. The theme is “Over 40,” meaning beers with an SRM over 40—very, very dark brews. We can’t wait to see what dark, rich, and intense creations our members will bring to the table. Stay tuned for more details, and happy brewing until then!
